Getting a good label reading
- Lay the label flat, fill most of the photo with it, and avoid glare from a flash or a window.
- If symbols are faded or cut off, Washtag says so: check the “How sure Washtag is” panel and the “Double-check on the label” notes.
- If the label shows a barcode, keep it in the same photo and Washtag looks the product up too.
Barcodes
- Hold the camera straight on to the barcode, with the numbers underneath visible.
- If a product isn’t found, type the numbers instead, or use the search links under Product details.
- The free product database allows about 100 lookups a day; if you hit the limit, try again tomorrow.
Your saved index
- Items are saved only on your device. In the web app, use Household → Download backup to keep a copy or move it to another phone.
- Label items with the people in your household, then filter the index by person.
Washer, dryer and loads
- Add your machines under This load → Your washer & dryer. Looked-up specs show how sure they are; check them against the sticker inside the door.
- Detergent amounts are starting points. Your detergent’s own cap or scoop markings win.
